This is the extremely rare SEIKO SRPC49J1 from the SEIKO LIMITED EDITION " THE BLACK SERIES ". This watch is doubly rare because not only is it MADE IN JAPAN, but it has the very rare Japanese Kanji - English day disc. SEIKO SRPC49J1 With / KANJI JAPANESE DAY DISK 100% MADE IN JAPAN VERSION, NEW! We estimate there were only 1000 to 1300 of this model produced with the Japanese Kanji - English day disc.
PLEASE MESSAGE US IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, WE AE HERE TO HELP. THANKS FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING ON THIS. There were only a few regions of the world that received this model watch, Japan only got issued 300 units in total and these had the Kanji Japanese - English day disk. Singapore was issued about 300 to 500 of the Kanji - English version.
Other areas such as Hong Kong, Thailand and a few countries in Europe received 500 units without the Kanji day disk. So it is guesstimated that in total only 1000 to 1500 of this watch of all versions were ever produced for total worldwide distribution. AT THIS TIME THIS IS THE ONLY J1 VERSION WITH THE JAPANESE DAY DISK AVAILABLE FOR SALE ANYWHERE ON THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE NONE ON E BAY!! 100% made in Japan version. The J1 Japan made version is highly prized by collectors because of the better quality control at the Seiko Japanese factory.Having the legendary turtle shaped case, this watch has been aptly named by watch aficionados " THE BLACK NINJA TURTLE ". Unlike the other versions this watch says made in Japan on both the dial and the case back, see attached photos.
This is not to be confused with the SRPC49K1 or SRPC49 that were made in the Seiko factory in Malaysia. These non Japanese versions are cheaper, much more available and were mass produced and DID NOT have the privilege of having the Japanese Kanji - English day disc highly sought after by watch collectors. Seiko Corporation only produced the J1 version for specific region distribution. The J1 Japan made version and the other 2 versions were never officially imported by Seiko to the USA as these were only available for sale to a few countries in the European and Asian markets. The 300 versions of this watch released in Japan were not the only version that has the Kanji - Japanese day disk. Some were also released in a few other countries in Asia with the Kanji - Japanese day disk. This watch was hand carried to the USA from Asia.
At this time this is the only J1 version left for sale on the internet , and there are none on E bay. Seiko4R36, 24-Jewel Automatic (self-winding and hand wind).
